Wow, was the first thing I said when the film ended. I was expecting a lot from this film, it delivered, and was even better than I thought. Batman (Christian Bale) returns in his greatest film EVER! And this time he faces off against his arch enemy The Joker (Heath Ledger). The film starts out with an intense bank robbery scene, where we are introduced to the evil clown. Then we find the caped crusader Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman, fighting against an old foe of his. We are introduced to Gotham's DA, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), who is currently dating Bruce's love interest from the first movie, Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes). Soon The Joker starts on a killing spree and demands to see the face behind the Bat. And then Batman teams up with the newly appointed Commissioner Gordon to put the Joker behind bars.
This film was filled with jaw dropping action, and even the parts with just talking will have you on the edge of your seat. The film had some interesting and clever twists throughout the entire film, and we see some of Batman's greatest villains.
This was a perfect ending to Heath Ledger's amazing acting career. And I agree with the critics that Ledger has earned an Oscar nomination for his incredible role as the Joker. Not only was Ledger an amazing performer in this film, but everybody was great. Even Michael Caine did an amazing job as Bruce's famous Butler Alfred.
If I had the opportunity to, I would see the movie a hundred times again. This movie lived up to, and surpassed my expectatios. The film was superb and almost perfect. I believe this dethrones Iron Man as the best action film of the year. I give The Dark Knight a 9.8 out of 10, my highest review yet.

AGREED!
i'm a big batman fan. The first movie from 1989 was awesome and then the cartoons. batman II with penguin was OK and the rest really sucked.
this latest movie was the best batman yet in my opinion. going in i thought it would be really hard for the joker to live up to the hype and the preformance jack nicholson did back in the day. but heath pulled it off and then some!
i really can't think of much about this movie that i didn't like. batman was great and the joker was pure genius. katie holmes is a little better looking than maggie gyllenhaal but maggie gyllenhaal is a much better actress. not that it's hard to be a better actress than holmes.
when i left the theater i said this was the best batman ever! i really hope they do a 3rd!!!
Thank you for the comment Marty. I agree that Jack Nicholson did a great preformence as the first joker and it must have been intimidating for Heath Ledger to live up to that preformence. But he did an incedible job and became one of the greatest, scariest, and creepiest super villains of all time.
It was indeed the best batman movie and one of the best comic book movies of all time. And I also wish they make a 3rd.
Hello Bryce, I'm a friend of your mother's. I like your blog and I agree with your review of the Dark Knight. I gave the film a "9". I thought it was one of the few times that a highly anticipated film exceeded the Hollywood hype machine. The year is half over and so far The Dark Knight is the best film of the year.
