Would you believe...

Get Smart was great. Yes, the show based on the 1960's sitcom was actually pretty good. The movie starts out as Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is not loving the slow life of being an annalist at the secret company called CONTROL. But he soon gets his chance for some action when CONTROL is invaded by KAOS (CONTOL'S enemy). He soon helps agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) defeat several KAOS agents. The next day he is promoted by the Chief (Alan Arkin) to be a field agent and is teamed up with agent 99 to track down Siegfried (Terence Stamp) of KAOS.
There are some familiar characters from the original show, such as Agent 13(The agent who always is sent to hide in the strangest places), Agent Larabee(The Chief's assistant, who gets stapled in the movie), Shtarker(Siefrieds chubby assistant, who isn't very bright), Hymie(a Control agent, who is actually a robot, who's technology was stolen from KAOS), and Fang(Max's trusty canine sidekick). And other new characters such as Agent 23, Bruce and Lloyd and many others.
Fans of the old show will love this movie, mostly because there are plenty of shout outs to the original series. The first one of these are during the opening credits when the names Mr. Big, and the Claw can be seen on Max's notes, both of them were villains from the original show. The next one was when Max was in the CONTROL museum, many TV show props can be seen such as the original cone of silence, the shoe phone, Max's red Sunbeam Tiger, and much more is there. The entrance for CONTROL is basically the same, it's still a hallway full of mechanic doors and walls and it ends with a telephone booth. Near the end Max takes the Sunbeam Tiger from the museum. Also Bernie Kopell, who plays Siegfried in the original series, makes an appearance in the film.
The film was actually pretty good and I enjoyed watching it. It's is basically for older people but I thinks some children might also like this film. The film was hilarious and there was some scenes that I just cracked up. During the scene when Max was in the bathroom on the plane I was laughing so much I almost cried. I recommend this film and give it a 8.8 out of 10.

Having loved the original series, I was hoping this would not be a total let-down. Fortunately, I did not go in with very high expectations & was actually pleasantly surprised.

Great review!
