A Star Trek for the next Generati on

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its ongoing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before. These words were heard before every episode of the Star Trek original series. And they will be heard once again in this remake of the popular Sci Fi series that began over forty years ago. This film stars Christopher Pine as James T Kirk, the captain of the USS Enterprise. Playing Kirk's right hand man, the half human, half Vulcan, Spock, is Heroes' Zachary Quinto. The film doesn't really get good until the two meet. But when they do the fun really begins. What will eventually evolve into a great friend ship starts out as a bitter hatred. Spock gets Kirk put of probation forcing him to sneak on the Enterprise for it's maiden voyage, with help from his friend Dr. "Bones" McCoy. After an attack from a planet destroyer Nero, Spock is made captain and exiles Kirk to an ice planet where he meets Montgomery "Scotty" Scott. In the control room of the Enterprise is pilot Mr. Sulu, wiz kid Pavel Chekov and translator Uhura. One of the great thing that this film does is the different personalities that each character has. Quinto portrays a perfect logical, emotionless Spock, opposite of Pine's hot headed, act first think later Kirk.
One word that can perfectly describe this movie is fun. Almost at no time in the movie did I experience boredom. The special effects have greatly improved since the original series, there were no strings on this Enterprise. Although this film is not just for Star Trek fans, there are many inside jokes and catch phrases, including Live long and prosper, I'm giving her all she's got captain, and good god Jim I'm a doctor not a physicist. Even Lenard Nemoy, who plays Spock in the original series, not only has a cameo but a major role. This Star Trek takes a different turn than any other Star Trek film. This film truly goes where no film has gone before. I give Star Trek a 9.2 out of ten.
